Facebook Baltimore Old Photos

Accidentally found this site. You have to join facebook to see it, nothing I can do about that. Maybe other towns have similar sites?

It is a collection of old and not so old photos. Of interest to us are the old buildings, and ads and billboards that we can use.

More streetcars than train, but here is one

And when is Intermountain going to come out with this PRR switcher?

Modern batteries and RC, you actually could have a working model of those wheeled switchers. Cab interior detail required - they had a huge ship’s wheel for steering.

Everyone who is oon Facebook should check - there are similar groups for many areas and also specific railroads.

You can get the PRR one in several scales at Shapeways:

Perhaps the B&O style, too, just haven’t seen it. I believe one of the actual ones resides at the Museum in Baltimore.

I had no idea that such a switcher ever existed. I did see a similar size battery powered vehicle used in NYC for decades to transport paper for printing newpaper at the Boyertown Auto Museum. I cannot find a picture of that one.

Here’s a fuzzy shot of the B&O’s Caterpillar DT-1:

Check out that bell!

There is one for Cheviot, OH. Lots of C&O and Chessie System photos.

Faller makes that car system that allows vehicles to follow a set course along roads. Bet you could rig that switcher to work on that system. Would be. Conversation piece
