Facelift underway at New Haven Union Station

Also regarding Cass Gilbert, whose long, productive, and distinguished career included a wonderful group of North Italian Renaissance buildings for Oberlin College.

I worked my way through law school nights as a crew caller working out of this building. I now live in Little Falls, MN, where the ex-NP station was one of the first buildings designed by Cass Gilbert. It now houses the Chamber of Commerce. Shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves, anyone?

The station also has a cool Solari board that announces train departures. Hope it doesn’t go away.

Is that 1972 date for closing correct? I lived in central Connecticut and NYC then and I don’t remember the station being closed although it was in decrepit condition.
