factory direct train prices on precision craft fa/fb etc

Received an email from fdt on clearence sale items. Just wondering if the precision craft model alco fa/fb unit (HO scale) is a real bargain at $130? How about the BLI EMD E8 at $85? Or the precision craft F3 A/B for $85? I know they are dcc ready, not dcc. But dont know about the quality/price.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

good question. I was looking at some of the F units in CP colours.[:)] Looking forward to the replies on your post.

Frank

guess this question wasn’t important enough to get any answers. Thank you Frank for your interest.

Sometimes hard to decipher what is or isn’t an important question. Or maybe the subject of your post may not have been “catchy” enough to get folks attention. Or maybe the question looked like another rant about something. Or maybe the question didn’t look like a question.

Lots of maybes!

This is just a suggestion, but you could try re-posting with a subject line like “please tell me about the Precision Craft FA/FB”, and then ask your question. Maybe (there’s that word again) you’ll get a better result.

Or…maybe not!!!

Thats a great price and the look and run great.

I used the PCM F3AB set to power my Genesis shells. It was easy to purchase the undecorated F3 A and B sound versions which only cost $149 from FDT and I installed the Genesis shells on those chassis sets. It also corrects the Genesis interior problem since the PCM interior is located in the correct position for the cab. Last month, they had the sound F3 ABA CB&Q set for $199, which was a bargain for three sound models.

The undecorated sound versions are a bargain if you can use them. The units runs well but I personally take issue with the PCM and BLI F units shells. They are OK execept for the number boards. If you look at the number boards, the inserts acually do not fit into the facing like the prototype does. That is why I purchased the models to use with Genesis shells and now have a great running set of F’s with sound.

thank you for your inputs. I will have to talk to the finance manager now. Might get the F3. Reminds me of the trains that came by my grandmothers house ( sounded like they came thru the house lol) when I was 6 or 7.

Thanks again
