In 1978, the Family Lines had a beautiful old steam engine labeled #1. I took it once on a business excursion…does anyone know the name of the engine or have information about it.
The locomotive in question is an old 4-4-0 that turned up as Clinchfield #1. It was used primarily as an excursion locomotive on Clinchfield and was rigged with hostler controls to operate the two F7B’s that provided most of the power on the trains.
To CSSHEGWISCH…Thanks for the reply. The information is very helpful. jmaryans
I recall Clinchfield #1 as a 4-6-0. Can anyone confirm the actual engine type of this unit?
From several pictures in the book: “Clinchfied Country”,
It is definitely a 4-6-0.
I have the book in my ‘meager’ Library.
