Tell the people at Metra board the need to take pay cut. They need to improve service first before rising the fares.
Before anyone decides they will drive instead, you should also know that rates at parking meters are also increasing, to the highest in the country. $6.50 an hour to park on the street in the Loop.

Despite the high cost and rising costs of Metra, it is still a relative bargain. Between the costs of gas, wear and tear on cars in far higher maintenance, and of course the previously mentioned higher parking meter costs, Metra is still the way to go.
