Fascinating "new" posted pic of head-on collision and link to report.

This accident, occurring in 1987, with two fatalities is fascinating because it is one of those rare head-on events. I know that it has been discussed in forums thoroughly since it happened, but when I saw the picture it took a while to track down the accident report online.

Thought others might be interested if I posted both links together.

The report turns out to be a fascinating story of reduced operation and staffing contributing to overworked dispatchers and careless observation of operational rules, as railways evolved from Chessie to CSX operations from the 1960s to the 1980s. Couldn’t stop reading until the end as it pieces together the almost inevitable doom that is looming
