fast track

I have been trying to locate a pair of 711 072 switches but the price is prohibtive. Do fast track 072 switches work well with post war lionel with operating coupler and operating car shoes? I know for instance that Ross custom and Gar Graves swithes hang the shoes.

Has Lionel addressed this issue when fast track was designed?

While I don’t have the O72 switches, I do run Fastrack and belong to the yahoo group. I have never heard any problems with these switches. In fact, the only problem ever mentioned to my knowledge was a switch with something loose on the inside.

Fastrack switches have the best reputation for smoothness and non derailing or other problems . After you’d buy converters and etc. to try to use others it would’nt be worth it and would not look very good . I know … I hate the high dollar price … seems they’re the only ones bringing blown up prices compared to all the other manufacturers ! I could get other brands for 1/2 or 1/4 their price and that burns me . But you won’t have to stretch and reach to put your cars back on the track … cussing … as often .

Maybe you are talking about 15 year old GarGraves or Ross switches as the current GarGraves 042 switches do not bother my post war cars with the shoe that hangs down. If the GarGraves switch does bother your post war car the plastic frog at the switch point may need to be filed down a little. I am using GarGraves track for three main lines with 042 switches and have no problems with any post war equipment.
