Faster than a speeding bullet !...

I was in the College Station, Texas area recently on the back side of town driving along the street that runs behind the A & M campus which is parallel to the railroad tracks.
All of a sudden, I heard the horn blast of a freight train that flew by at least at 60 mph or more from the opposite direction I was traveling.
A few miles down the road, I stopped at a store to get a soda, and another freight train came flying by just as fast if not faster than the first.
I asked the store clerk if the trains traveled at that speed all the time around there, and he didn’t act as if it was anything unusual.
I was just amazed because where I come from most trains don’t go but about 45 or 50 mph. It was kind of nice to see them fly for a change.

And if you ever get trackside of the NEC (assuming Amtrak is still around and get Acela fixed) and see trains go by over 100 mph?

nice to see csx crank up some speed when they get the track fixed around here.
stay safe
