Happy Fathers Day To All
Happy Fathers Day to all.
I’d like to know what you think…without causing a disruption or dissension in this great photo-sharing tradition. Can I suggest a very SHORT caption under the photos, identifying the engine, car, or accessory. That would make the viewing more informative as well as enjoyable for the less informed masses such as myself. Nothing elaborate or time consuming, just short and sweet to get the juices flowing and to educate. I.E., Postwar Lionel Hudson 2046 (1950).
There is such a broad expanse of brand, era, product, and gauge out there. Many on this Forum lack the knowledge (me) of the more involved and/or the experts. Even others are either eyesight challenged (me) or are still using a 14" VGA monitor (me) which, even with the enlargement, have difficulty discerning a 2-6-4 from a 4-8-4…or a postwar Lionel Santa Fe 2343 F3 from a Williams reproduction. Many don’t have reference material to help identify what we are looking at.
I know each of you are proud of your “iron” and layouts, and you should be. While I enjoy each and every photo, I would get even more excited if I knew exactly what I was looking at: some of this stuff is rare if not downright extinct.
Northwoods Flyer and Marsienne took such an approach with their American Flyer thread, complete with history. That approach has amazed and educated even the novices among us, kept us coming back for more. Hence the exceptional number of views their thread gets.
Just a suggestion. I appreciate the time and effort each poster puts into taking the photos, downloading them, and then sharing them with the rest of us. This is the first thread I go to every Sunday morning. Education and exposure will only help sustain
Happy Father’s Day everyone!
Jack your suggestion sounds like a good one. I enjoy reading the information that others post about their trains. I learn something from all of the threads and posts that are on here.
I think I might have posted these pictures on another thread, but I can give some information too.
The engine is an American Flyer O gauge midsized box cab marketed from 1930 to 1932. Flyer called it their New Haven style. It is about 9" long and comes in green (which varies widely in shade from example to example) and blue.
The cars are a 3161 “Pullman” and a 3162 Observation both marketed from 1930 to 1932. The set frequently has a 3150 baggage car which I am still looking for in a matching green color and with the same kind of trucks (type VII). These cars also come in varying shades of green so I have several pieces that don’t exactly match each other.
The trestles are by Marx and I have enough to complete an oval of elevated track but I haven’t gotten around to putting up much more than what you can see in the pictures.
And Thanks for the kind words.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY EVERYONE
GREAT PICS AS ALWAYS
JACK, I LIKE YOUR IDEA
NO PROGRESS ON MY LAYOUT,AFTER ALL IT IS BASEBALL SEASON
MARK
Happy father’s day!
Some beautiful stuff guys. I’m drooling.
Spanky and j.t.: what track do you each use?
I’m trying to find a track and switch system which works with both Magnatraction and prewar Lionel, and offers a large selection of radii in both the track and switches.
Thanks,
runtime
Seeing Spanky’s trains or the Hoochie Mama on the back end ?
[:O] [:I] [:o)]
I have wondered who made the trestles I bought at a local hobby shop, the trestles you have are identical to what I bought a few months ago. Currently I am using them for a display track as my locomotives won’t go under the trestles but some of my smaller freight cars will go under.
Lee F.
The track on this layout is 027 tube track with most of the switches K-line low profile at 027 radius.
Happy Fathers Day!!!
My layout is FasTrack, 4X8 with a 2X4 leg
This is the new K-Line CNJ Boxcab I just got, pulling 6 tank cars and caboose

This is my new Penn-Reading Shore Line Beep lashed up with my CNJ Beep:

And, of course, a Happy Fathers Day Mopar show at the PRR Station:

And a Classic Willys Gasser mixing it up with the new SRT8 Hemi Challenger:

The cars are all Hot Wheels G Machines or Cool Customs (1:50 scale)
Have a great day guys!
runtime: I use O guage tubular track and O22 swithes. The turns are 31", 42", and 54", my prewars run fine on these although the wider the turn the slower I can run my steamers without losing any speed.
Great pics, thanks guys.
Inside the Kirkwood train station:

Brutus: I could only find the phone booth out of Austrialia and the postage was more then the product. Guess I’ll wait
This UP-rio grande(MTH Sd70ACe) combo work the S grade climb.
Thanks Spanky, and j.t.
j.t. - is that standard Lionel track and switches?
Spanky, I think I’m right to assume that any 027 is incompatible with Lionel O-guage prewar wheel flanges?
runtime
Here are few showing my Premier decapod that I got earlier this year. MTH retrofitted with TMCC. Cheers.
Spanky - nice “caboose”…
anjdevil - 'bout time you posted some pics, hoseboy.[tup]
runtime - you can have my hanky (…and, no, I don’t want it back.) I use K-line tubular with Lionel switches, on Johnson’s rubber roadbed. (Exception: I use Ross track on bridges for better appearance)
mickey - Looks like you gotta nice layout there.
YEP - I have used Marx, K-line and Lionel 027 track all mix together, without any problems.
I had these posted on another current link, and they are dated, but it is what Fathers Day (even if you are a Grandpa) is all about!!!
