What is your Fav loco.[:D][}:)][:p][:)][:D][8D][;)][8][^][V][?] Mine is the PA/PB series from ALCo.[}:)]
I’AM FROM THE SECOND GENERATION DIESEL MOSTLY I PREFER IS THE EMD’S GP-40’S ,GP-38-2 4AXEL LOCO’S
You have to love those coloful geeps. The geeps are perfect for shortines and kick but on the the main line. There probaly the best locomotive around.
gotta be alco’s dl-109. I’m a first generation diesel fan, so i just really go for those early cab units, PA’S, FA’S, E’S,ETC. Any one else out there crazy bout the early one’s.
American Locomotive Company’s PA
GDMRCo you continue to leave off “other” on your “polls”. For example, among my favorites, you have left out what is probably my favorite (I’m a steam man, myself), and that’s the Baldwin Centipede, B-D+D-B units coupled back to back with a drawbar! Very impressive sight
OOOPS!!! I was gunna put other there but forgot. SRY everone!!!
Baldwin Centipede…never even thought of it, buuuuuut, if Athern, Life Like, or Stewart are looking or listening, this one and the Baldwin Baby Face, both 4 wheel and 6 wheel units would look great on everyones layout. Am I right or am I right???
I always ‘luved’ seein’ those big GN SD7s wind up on a brace of loaded ore jennies and head out long hood forward. Ah da memories.
My favorite diesel is the PA-1, closely followed by the F7.
Regarding "F"s in the poll.
I’m assuming you mean the bulldog nosed F units and not the more modern “cowl” units like the F40 and F45.
So in this case I voted for the E-units. Top of the list: The E7.[4:-)] Pulled just about every famous streamliner there was and could hit 100 mph easily! Often seen on films made “back in the day”. As a teen, what turned me on to the E7 was watching the opening credits of “The Adventures of Superman”. In the color version, you see one coming fast at you in SP Daylight colors with the mars light moving.
I’m glad Broadway LImited is producing this unit in HO.]( though the horn sound is incorrect for some road names). It’s a sad trajedy that in the real world, only one E7a is left in existence in a museum somewhere in Pennsylvania. (Altoona?)
I’m sure it would take “tons” of money, but it would be wonderful if she were made operational again![sigh][swg]
I like the PA and the FA. Anyone seen the add for the P2K PA in ther February MR? Looks good.
Its at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg PA.[:)]
The Alco PA is my Fav.[:D]
Cant wait to see one run again![:0]
Doyle McCormick gets my vote for the next Saint [angel]to be cannonized!!![bow]
Thanks KBFcsme!
I went to the website. What a museum! E7 number 5901 has been beautifully preserved. I downloaded the photo. I definetly will make it a point to visit this museum.
Thanks again!
Antonio,
I guess I’m going to have to figure out how to post a picture of the SDF40-2 (SDP40F) I did for my Maritime Rail.
SD7 , EMD GP 38 GP 38-2 ,SD40-2
SD60Is (only CR had them), SD60Ms, and SD40-2s
For looks I love the EMD E and F series locomotives, but for all around performance and good looks, NOTHING beats a GP, so I voted for the GP38/GP38-2.
SD40-2 were are you?
