Favorite Diesel?

What is you favorite diesel loco and why?

LC

SD40-2

The Dependable Workhorse, too bad they are getting harder and harder to find out on the mainlines.

GP-40, the SD’s little brother, and another dependable (and fast) workhorse - the muscle car of it’s day.

EMD SD40-2.
EMD SD70MAC.
WHY? THEIR POWER AND MOST OF ALL…THE “SOUND”.

GP-40, GP-40 -2… Simple to maintain, strong, fast and ultra reliable. However I would not want to buy a turbo when it fails, blowers are about $20,000.00 chaeper

sante fe’s blue and yellow GP-60’s…just because

GP40-2 and also SD70…

Rock Island AB6’s as a most favorite but i do like the SD40-2.

The GMD1 has to be my personal favorite. It was the first locomotive I can remember seeing. I remember seeing GMD1 1070 heading across the Trans-Canada hiway on the now abandoned CN Cowichan Subdivision in Victoria, near the Town and Country strip mall.

Small SW or Geep, simple… run forever…

Although the heaters SUCK

I was gonna vote for Rudolph Diesel, and not Vin Diesel here!

The Century line was very good. Some are still around and working short lines. Find me a 40 year old GE still running.

The RS - 1, RS - 2, and the RS - 3s are classic.

SD 39
GP 28
F 40 C
Dash 8 32 BWH-Kentucky Cardinal had em frquently, look better than a Genesis, and with only 25, the odds of one leading are rare

GP 40-2 Hook enough of them together and they would do anything.

SD-60s and gp 50s and 60s. the Sd 70s are good also but the 60s seem to be better

gp 38-2 pushes cars like there is no tommorow.
stay safe

The SD40-2 and GP40-2 Very dependable locomotives , could haul any train.

Hmmm, tough choice, tough choice.

I would have to say the Baldwin Centipede. It was big, it was powerful, and ultimately unsuccessful. It must have been breathtaking to see in person.

For GE: C44ACCTE and for EMD: SD70M. Both in UP Building America paint. Although Im not really a patriot or a Republican by all means, the flag looks nice and it fills up the side alot better than “Union Pacific.” I used to like the C44-9W’s but I like the AC inverter cabinets behind the cab on the C44AC’s better than the Dash 9’s AirConditoner. As for the SD70M, its just a good looking locomotive.
