My favorite railroad was the Former Delaware Lackawanna & Western railroad. Although they couldn’t match the other railroads in Miles of track owned, they could still make their railine as straight and level as possible. It was just such a unique railroad.
None of those listed my favorite fallen flag was the GN followed closely by the AT&SF.
My SIG Line should give you a hint what mine is!
The Wabash is the favorite, also the IT. I guess it is time to admit that the N & W is also a fallen flag. CBQ_Guy, do you count the M&IB&B as part of the Q, or is it a fallen flag of it’s own?
I like Boston & Maine the most.
Sorry I couldn’t include more Fallen Flag railroads, I just wrote down what was on the top of my head.
Glad you added LV…
I grew up next to the Chesapeake & Ohio, what else would it be?
I miss ALL the Fallen Flags;C & O just sticks with me more than most.
When you ‘grow’ up around towns named 'Raceland,Russell,Ashland,Huntington"
you develop an affection for the area, and other things that are around in the
same area.
Locomutt has it right! I miss all of them, too. I’m a west coast guy, though, and my favorite will always be the Southern Pacific.

The colourfull Western Pacific!
Boston and Maine.

Fallen Flag-----C&NW.
Well, due to my being from Chicago, there are so many to list that I would have to say I miss them all too! ralph zimmer n9kym@aol.com
Penny has a soft for me, but Id throw in for the Southern Pacific!

B & O
Best and Only…America’s first railroad.
I had to vote for the C&O. The reason why I really miss this railraod is for their short lived but, excellent locomotives the Alleghenys and the Northerns. This is one of the main reasons why I like CSX.
My second favorit is the PRR. My poor great grandpop would kill me for saying the C&O is my favorit fallen flag. He used to work for the PRR, and didn’t care too much for C&O However, I didn’t like the New York Central and PRR merger.
Chicago & Northwestern.
Since you only listed Eastern railroads,I vote for the Standard Railroad of the World[:D]! Pennsy is my favorite Eastern road.I love the GG1s, And I think that Pennsy steam was beautiful. I really liked the Belparie(sp?) firebox on PRR steamers. My overall favorite is Southern Pacific,as can be seen by my username[8D].
Rock Island with BN and CNW (if they count) distant 2nd and 3rd
