Favorite Passenger Paint scheme

whats your favorite

My vote goes to CP´s action red, because it´s VERY similar to the 1950 Budd built SP Sunset Limited, which actually is my favourite paint scheme.

None of the above.

New Haven’s
Pennsylvania’s

The 1947/1951/1955 Empire builder scheme is absolutely my all-time favorite.
(gee, ya think?) However, which North Coast Limited scheme do you refer to?
My preference there is the pre-Loewy Two-tone green with yellow pine tree scheme.

I like the post loewey NCL two tone green and white

You presented me w/ a dilema! Since I only coulld go w/ one I took the GN EB but the Daylight and the IC Panama (I’m not sure if the City Of Miami was meant to be the original (no thanks) or the later Brown & Orange (my #3 coice)

seems the empire builder is most popular

IC brown and orange is my fav. Also you need to add an option for the SF warbonnet- i’m sure many people like that.

How about ACL purple and silver?

One on question list and several not listed as choices.

CNW Yellow/green
ACL Purple/Silver
VIA Silver/blue
DB White/red stripe

Technically not a car scheme since it was just on the engines but …
Southern Green/white

This one is a no brainer.Anyone could have gussed my favorite from my username[:)]. SOUTHERN PACIFIC DAYLIGHT.[:)][:D][8D][:p]!!!

To me, a Train Scheme must include the passenger cars. The all stainless look, while nice, does not make my favorites list. How could it when possibly the real winner was the diversity of colors represented by the many railroads during my favorite era, the 40’s and 50’s, in which I grew up. In order: Daylight, IC, GN, CP Maroon, CN green/black, KCS, Hiawatha, NP late two tone, PRR tuscon, B&O…that’s my top ten.

I will vote ERIE Green and Grey first every time. LACKAWANNA a close second. Other good ones: B&O, IC, KCS, SP, WABASH. Some good loco or car schemes did not extend to the same road’s locos or cars: D&H (old) bottle green/cream, SEABOARD citrus, CB&Q, etc. NYC is dead last!

First, foremost, and always: Norfolk and Western Tuscan Red, followed closely by Pennsylvania Railroad Tuscan Red. (N&W Pevler Blue isn’t too bad, either.)

The Northern Pacific Loewy scheme for the North Coast Limited is rather good-looking, too. 1960s CNR and 1950s CPR are nice, but definitely in the second or third tier The C&O and the D&H did OK with yellow, stainless steel, and blue; the B&O did rather nicely with several of their liveries. (I have yet to figure them all out; hopefully Harry Stegmaier’s third B&O passenger service book will help in this regard.)

Other honorable mentions:

-The Lehigh Valley Cornell(?) red-and-black on a PA
-The New Haven in McGinnis and that University of Miami (Florida)-looking livery
-The SAL’s white/mint green/whatever with red lettering and striping was rather nice on an E6A
-The Western Pacific’s first or second California Zephyr F3/FP7 livery
-The Penn Central black/white, along with whatever colors they chose to paint the coaches

At the absolute back of the line: Southern Pacific Daylight Orange-Red-and-Vomit, preceded shortly by the Santa Fe’s “warbonnet”.

I voted for the NYC 20th Century paint but I must wonder, which 20th Century scheme? The 1938 Dreyfuss version, the simplified version from (as best I can tell) 1940 or, the 1948 two tone grey. But, I have to give out props to the Lehigh Valley’s Cornell Red! King of all Paint schemes!![:D]
