Norfolk Southern is definitely my favorite and in my opinion the best railroad ever. Love that BLACK and WHITE!

How many times can this come up? For me, the UP, even if that can get you in a lot of trouble.
Current railroads - Union Pacific.
Of all time - Southern Pacific.
As a non american theres a few that spring to mind, -Southern Pacific, Rock Island, C&NW, Milwaukee Road, D&RGW…but i have to say the former Atlanta & St. Andrews Bay RR…The Bay Line. I’ll always remember being on holiday in Panama City FL and spending a couple of hours each morning watching trains being formed in the yard right opposite the hotel… not to mention discovering just how long american trains are… a loco I hadnt had a picture of that week, ASAB 511 (if memory serves me right) disappeared up to the north end of the yard, i must have trekked a mile up the dirt path next to the yard, and i was about about 3 cars away from the end of the train when 511 headed back south to panama city shops… but what was instilled in me that week was what different a character each railroad (shortlines especially) have over there… very different to here in the UK.
Of all time: toss up between the PRR and B&O. Current line would be CSX.

Well my favorite railroad would be esspee after up killed them though I became an Amtrak fan boy.
As I said, the ORIGINAL NS that ceased to exist in '74. I liked their GRAY BALDWINS (and their res ones, too)

I have to agree with it. Besides Chessie, N&W, NYC, Reading, Lehigh Valley, and the Lehigh and New England the ol PRR is my favorite road

My favorite railroad?
I have two.
My first is the Montana Rail Link, as they maintain such a huge fleet of vintage locos, and beat the HECK out of them, and they run in amazing scenery.
Second is the Union Pacific. Love their fleet and sheer size.

The New York City subway system. Sure, it may not qualify as a ‘railroad’, but surely is moves the people who move the freight of commerce in America.

South Pennsylvania Railroad!!! 1881-1885 Along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Yep it’s still there folks.
