Whats your favorite railroad[?]
That’s easy (and obvious), the Union Pacific. Southern Pacific and N&W, too… I guess I can’t pick just one, they’re all great! (UP still is my fav., though)
Nickle Plate ( New York,Chicago and St. Louis R.R.) Lake Erie and Western Div.
Hands down winner is the Florida East Coast Railway. What other has gone to sea or lasted, without merger or take-over for more than 100 years.
Mines the Green Mountain Railroad/Vermont reailroad. The Vermont railroad owns the Washington County RR,Green Mountain RR, Clarendon and Pittsford RR, and the New York and Odgensburg. All these short lines run throughout Vermont and New York.
For me it has to be the one I went to work for right out of high school as a fireman.
The B&O !
Unfotunately that was cut short by the Vietnam draft.
guess
mine is the CNW and Route Rock of course.

BN is the main line I will be modeling but with MEC a very close second. Since it’s my world to model maybe I will have an interchange between the two.
The New York Central would be my favorite. 20th Century Limited, Pacemaker Freight, Lightening Stripes, Grand Central Terminal, Hudsons & Niagras.
Canadian Pacific, the first true Trans-Continental railroad.

Canadian National and Chessie System railroads are my favorite.

My favorite is the New York, New Haven & Hartford. . .“Serving New York, and the great industrial states of Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island”.
Linking 13 States with the Nation. The Baltimore and Ohio. Its tracks ran 2 blocks from my house when I was growing up. I used to watch the trains from across the street on my grandmother’s front porch. Ah, the lovely E’s and F’s that went by.
In 1955, I did see one steam locomotive go by, but it was partially obscured by the trees and the hillside and I was much too young (3) to know anything about steam locomotives.
Favorite Railroad? That’s a no brainer…THe Denver & Rio Grande Western! Mountain railraoding at it’s BEST!!
