hay yall, whats your favorite steam loco? i like challengers personally.
I have three that tie…
4-4-2 penski atlantic
0-6-0 B6 penski
0-4-0 A5 penski
I dont really care that they are penski’s, I just like the looks and mechanics of them.
So, i have all three, well, 2 of 3, the 3rd should be in the mail…
I have a MDC 4-4-2 in my own paint scheme
I have a sunset 0-4-0 A5 in factory paint (i will some day remove the logo on it)
I am waiting for my sunset 0-6-0 B6 in weathered paint (again I will remove the logo on it)

ATSF 4-8-4

Of course it’s a C.P.R. K-1-a “Northern” 4-8-4 #3100, there were only 2 and they were beauties, thankfully they are preserved #3100 is in Ottawa and #3101 is in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Now THIS is a model I would like to see in HO. who needs those dinky little Royal Hudson’s.
SP&S 700. She’s big, she’s powerful, she’s beautiful and best of all,
She’s alive and well and steaming out of Portland, Oregon,. (I also
like the GN O-8 Mikado, R-2 2-8-8-2, N-3 2-8-8-0, S-1 and 2 Northerns
and the M-2 2-6-8-0 and most other GN stuff.)
Ten-Wheelers.
Any of them.
All of them.
Too bad no one makes a reasonably priced one in N scale.
Well, we’ve been here before–just last month, in fact–but it’s always an interesting forum topic. Mine are the big ones–Missabe M3/4 2-8-8-4, SP AC-6 4-8-8-2, Rio Grande L-131 2-8-8-2, Rio Grande L-105 4-6-6-4. Oyeah, can’t forget those gorgeous C&O 2-6-6-6 Alleghenies, can I? Who cares if putting them to work on coal trains was like hitching a Kentucky thoroughbred to a Conestoga wagon? They were beautiful!
Tom
Tom already listed 2 of my all time favorites, The Missabe Yellowstone and Espee AC-6.
Some of the others on mein list are the GN R-2, NP Z-8, SP AC-12, UP 4000 class, and ATSF 2900 class. I love giant steam!
An Eddy Clocker
Baltimore and Ohio’s 4-6-2 Pacifics, Presidential series.
Nickel Plate Berkshires and any USRA Mike (or clone).
Of course, any one that’s running will do!
Take a guess…
Spit-n-polish, (gleaming) brass bound wood burning American Standard (4-4-0) with a balloon or similar Stack
[:D]
american standard (4-4-0)…excellent choice
Big Espee steam:
4-8-8-2 AC cab-forwards
4-8-4 GS
4-10-2 SP
N&W 2-6-6-4 A, number 1238-1242, the only roller bearing rod equipped articulateds.
I would have to second that on the Nickel Plate Berkshires. Especially #765 restored by the Fort Wayne historical society. They made it look just like my Rivarossi. Or is that the other way around?
Ort007
My favorite…
- T1 of the PRR
- Cab Foward for the SP.
One sexy, one a brute.
[:D]
The modern Cab-forwards are the shizzle. Especially that AC-6 .[tup]
PRR J-1 2-10-4
C&O H-8 2-6-6-6
