There are others that I am quite fond of as well, and, of course,
I know that there are newer models that are superior to my old
Tenshodos, but I’ll only mention models I own and have personal
experience with. Great day, all!

Not intending this to be a cop-out, but I’ve never met a train (or trolley) that I didn’t like. My “favorites” are whatever I happen to like enough to spend my money on at the time, and they may or may not appeal to others. Furthermore, what I consider a favorite today may change tomorrow as my interests change or evolve. Makes no difference in any case, because it’s MY hobby.
1- Southern SD40-2
2- Southern GP/SD 7/9

I have, among others, a CNW E8 and a E7 both by P2K and a CNW C44-9 by Kato. Which would be my favorite? Impossible to say! I also have a Deutsche Bundesbahn 4-6-2- steamer by Fleischmann (a fine model). I have never seen a real one but the model intrigued me. I could post a picture if anyone was interested.
I’ve got so many favorites but at the top right now would be …
- Kato’s Canadian Pacific AC4400-CW, these things are just beautiful.
- P2K Ontario Northland GP38-2.
- P2K Huron Central SD45, reminds me of a big pumpkin, lol.

I’d have to say I’m quite partial to this fine old lady:

She is still working for a living at Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, PA
I have something close to that in a model, the Genesis 2-8-2 undecorated that will soon sport the logo of the Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western (SLOW). That is as soon as I create one… LOL
After that most any Steam Loco.
