You certainly have curious mix of old and new here. Some of these like CSX and Norfolk Southern include parts of other like PRR and NYC. You probably should include UP to have all four major roads of today. From what the model manufacturers make you would have to say PRR and Santa Fe (pre merger/war bonnet paint scheme) are the most popular. My favorite from your list is PRR.
Enjoy

Since you didn’t specify which country, I’m going to assume that you meant Canada, which would mean Canadian Pacific. [;)]

BNSF
BNSF
BNSF
Why isn’t CN up there, I’m sure there must be a few people out there that like them??
To me Norfolk Southern is the best!!
Ummmmm… UNION PACIFIC!
Even though im in New Jersey, BNSF rocks.
All-time: Conrail
Fallen Flag: Conrail
Modern: Reading & Northern
I like BNSF always have when i was little i would go up to the track and watch the BN trains go pass and then BN and SF came together to form BNSF and it is a cool railroad. I think BNSF has alot of routes around the country. I have a scanner so i can pick up the dispatchers talking to the train crew when there in the area it is cool to listen to them.
my uncle us to work for the old SOO line which merged with CP rail but you still see some of the SOO lines engines yet so SOO line comes in 2nd
Most popular would be a close race between PRR and ATSF.My favorite, which isn’t listed[:(!] is Southern Pacific, which should also be on the list for most popular.
As much as I wanted to vote for my favorit I didn’t think that would be lots of people’s favorit so I voted for BNSF, that seems like a very popular RR. I was suprised that UP wasn’t up there because I would of voted for UP. But when it all boils down to it I think from the poll evidence that it’s a little race between PRR and BNSF. PRR is my second favorit railroad. I think many people like the PRR because, they knew wut real passenger rail was and spent millions of dallors to improve infastructure and invest in new inovations for passenger rail. Another reason might be because they had the best electic locos ever, GG1 in dark green paint, one word BEAUTIFUL. PRR gone but not forgotten ![]()
wheres UNION PACIFIC
interesting choice of “canidates”…where’s the Milwaukee?

I think we’re getting away from the actual question which was “which railroad is the most popular in this country” so its not what you like, its what you think most of the railfans in America like.
I think it would be funny if CP won, then the most popular railroad for railfans in America would be a Canadian Railroad ![]()
My guess is that this poll may have been generated in haste … quite a mixture of yesterday and today, with some prominent names noticeably absent. Anyway …
From days gone by, my vote is for the Pennsylvania Railroad - Go Keystone! Love that Tuscan for passenger and Brunswick green for freight - especially when powered by GG1’s …
Talking about today, my vote would be for a passenger railroad that operates on tracks owned by others: VIA Rail of Canada. Yeah - my absolute favorite. Have had dozens of trips on the “Ocean” betwen Montreal and Halifax along with two cross-Canada trips on the “Canadian” between Toronto and Vancouver.
Back to yesterday: When it comes to freight - I just “dig” Canadian Pacific - not CP Rail, but CP with the Beaver logo. That works for me.
