And what do these amended agreements specify? I realize this is a press release, but it manages to avoid the story, only mentioning that there was one.
“All Aboard Florida” will not be operated by this Union which this Trains News Report could imply. “All Aboard Florida” is a Rapid Transit, Section #3 exemption of the FRA, and is not a common carrier, does not conduct transportation and only handles passengers in an intrastate movement. It is separated from the Florida East Coast freight trains that are interstate commerce by signal separation, even though they run over the same tracks. This is called durable separation the same as The River Line of New Jersey Transit or the same as the trolley at San Diego running over a common-carrier railroad which runs freight at night but does not use railroad crews on trolley cars.
I welcome being corrected, but I believe the inclusion of “All Aboard Florida” within this article about the union crews agreement running Florida East Coast freight trains is poorly placed, and has no connection to the rapid transit passenger operation between Miami and Orlando.
