Federal Transit Administration makes rail transit funding recommendations

Notice how the city of Milwaukee (and the state of Wisconsin) have no play in this game. Not until (“I will stop that train in its tracks”) Walker takes a hike, or is jailed, will that change. Meanwhile Milwaukee is one of the largest, if not THE, metro areas in the USA without a single mile of transit rail. Compare, for example with the neighbors one state over: M/SP.

For two years, it had been hopeless that University Corridor LRT will ever be constructed in Houston. Now this prospect is revived. I hope Houston’s Metro will accept and use the funding for the long delayed project.

The proposed route would pass near the hospital I was born in.

Looks good.

One thing I’d like to see Trains cover is the proposed FEC extension to the Tri-rail. I’m seeing headlines, unfortunately hidden behind paywalls, claiming there are conflicts between that and All Aboard Florida. It would be nice to see some news about that, considering it’s a major transit project.

I’m with you, Austin, I hope the good people of Wisconsin have enough smarts to vote that obstructionist Scott Walker out this time.

I long for the day when I can see something on this list for the Tampa Bay Area of Florida where I live, instead of more toll road construction. At the rate it’s going, it won’t be long and Florida will probably have more toll road miles than New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
