Feed sacks on palets

I took the advice on feed sacks made from 1/4’’ copper tubing (Thank You!!) They came out pretty good. Here is a pic. Mike

Good job! I’m impressed.

Nice

Wow it actually looks pretty darned good. How did you do the markings?

Sometimes the old ways are still the best. [:D]

That is pretty good. How did the labels go on?

I am modeling the Cargill Salt mine and could use some sacks of pallets. Would you share the process for making the sacks?
Neal

Neal this is the thread with the process. The third reponse (TomDiehl).

Good morning, and thanks for all the response. As far as the lables go, I simply super glued the sacks to the pallet then spray painted the whole thing the base color, then used a very fine paint brush and Wal Mart craft paint to do the lables. When the paint was all dry, spray with Dullcote and put them in front of the store. I even put a couple of sacks on a flat bed PU truck. Mike

I was right about the place I originally saw the idea. It was hint number 8-48. The book was originally published in 1965 by Kalmbach. Back then, Model Railroader magazine ran a column called “Kinks” and these hints were collected (“culled” as they say on the cover) from there.

BTW, the cover price on my copy is $2.00!

Thanks Terry. Thats exactally what I needed to know. I can and will produce some sacks of salt.
thanks again
