I’d love to but I’m still scrubbing off the Camoflauge, Darn that Texan Teffy.
Actually she (C&O 2-10-4) runs like a charm but has lifted some of the road bed and ballast. She’s heavy, fast and according to the family the loudest in the M.E.S.S. fleet.

Fergie I have that loco also. When I purchased it I was runnning DC only and had trouble with the built in momentum. I now have DCC also and use it with this loco so now I have no problem. I was wondering if you are DC or DCC and if you have any problems.

Yes, this has become very apparent as of late! Though the 2-10-4 is heavy and because I have 22" curves she doesn’t haul near as well as the Challenger on the heavy grades (5%+). Then again the Challenger does have a traction tire.
So what I’m thinking ( not a safe practice around here) is putting in a second main along the outer perimeter. [:D]
Lester: I have the Digitrax Empire Builder system. Works very well and I’d highly recommend it for a layout of my size.
Had the Texas and Challenger double headed last night and truth be known I could barely hear the Challenger’s whistle over the chuffs of the Texas. She Very LOUD!

Well, Im glad you can run that beast on 22"… my PRR J-1 2-10-4 from BLI is a really picky engine. One day we will have a go on 30" track.

Thank you, I now have MRC Prodigy advance and I am very pleased with it. My T1 problems are gone as I said before.

I’ve superelevated my curves and had to put guardrails on the curves that are on heavy grades. Track joints are also crucial and I only solder on the outside edge.
