fiber optrics

HAS ANYONE EVER USED FIBER OPTICS FOR LIGHTING AND IF YOU HAVE HOW WELL DOES IT WORK? hAVEN`T SEEN IT MENTIONED ANYWHERE. i HAVE NOT SEEN USED EITHER BUT THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE KIND OF INTERESTING.

I have not taken the fiber optic plunge yet but I have been researching the idea for awhile. I’m interested to try flaring fibers to see what effect it has on the amount/pattern of light. Of course if more light is needed use a larger fiber or add more of the fibers. If a more diffuse light rather than pinpoint light is desired this is where the flaring could be useful. Just my [2c]

There was a helpful tutorial that was put together by a member on this forum: Tutorial: Frugal Fibreoptics.

Thanks for the link! This one is great for adding fiber optics to a locomotive!

No prob. I’ll give the tutorial a try to see how it works out for me just as soon as I can get some fiber optic cable from “the fiber optic store” link you posted. BTW, thanks for that one.
