Hello Patrick
The name of this material was unfamiliar to me, so of course I searched for it on Google. There is not much said in English about unfortunately and what I did find conflicted.
One source said it was a sort of artificial wood product, and if that is the case, that might be what we in the States have been sold as “Gator Board.” There have been articles about it to build structures and the like, and it is found in the MicroMark catalog. I have seen the material but never worked with it, and I do not know as I have seen any article about building rolling stock such as coaches with it.
This website http://www.graphicdisplayusa.com/case_history.html?uid=ss4f2ff70268044
says the following:
Gatorfoam (http://www.graphicdisplayusa.com/gatorfoam/substrate/) by 3A Composites USA consists of polystyrene foam bonded between two layers of wood-fiber veneer laminate. This unique construction makes Gatorfoam rigid yet lightweight and warp-resistant; its surface also is exceptionally smooth and strong, offering superior dent- and scratch-resistance.
Another source said Fibrofacil was the same as what we call MDF or medium density fibreboard. However the websites that I found with photos of craft projects that used Fibrofacil sure did not look anything like MDF to my eyes. And again I do not know of anyone who uses MDF for rolling stock, at lesat not in the smaller scales.
So I have already said more than I know. Anyone else have info on Fibrofacil?
