Film of Big boy move to be on TV

Watching the Learning Channel last night and they had an ad for a show to be on this Friday at 10:00PM eastern about moving 4012 and a station to the other side of the tracks. i think this is the one that somebody posted pictures regarding earlier where the trailer broke an axle during the move across the tracks. You might want to check the time and day. I am 99% sure I got it right

To bad I don’t have cable. I would like to see that show.

awesome i’ll have to watch it. or tape it.

The TLC site has the show listed at 10 PM EST on Thursday and again at 1 AM on Fri.
The show is “Mega Moves”

Yes it is Thursday not Friday. i just saw the ad again.

hey guys. Just a reminders its tonight at ten!

Just watched the show. It was pretty awsome. The weight of the Big Boy was breaking stuff! [(-D] How cool is that!! Anyway, UP DD40X 6900 looked absolutely beautiful! Maybe one day I will get to see the two of them at their new display.

[#ditto] Thay looked great going through the town, would have loved to see that in person!!![;)][8D]

I missed it. Anybody know if its going to be on again?

I think they re-run that stuff on the week ends. go to the TLC web site. They probably have a schedual on it.It was a Mega Movers special, but on my dish guide, it didn’t say anything about trains in the listing.Did those movers seem like Dorks to you guys?
You think they could afford 2-way radios instead of yelling and whistleing to each other.

It sorta sucked to see the Centennial going out to pasture, but it is better than the torch.

I thought it actually was a really neat show. I liked it a lot. It was even more special, as one of the commercials during the show was one that I watched being filmed, on the crooked street(Lombard) in San Franscisco last March.

I looked on TLC, and couldn’t find a weekend schedule. I found the Thursday at 10:00, and the Friday at 1:00am. But nothing else.

ANYONE HAVE BETTER LUCK?

AWESOME!!! You know, that would make an interesting scene on a layout…

It would be a use for the Monogram/Revell/Whoever Big Boy model.

DID ANYONE TAPE IT???

Lost track of time last night and only got to see the last 20 min. of the program. What I did see was great! Hope they show it again.

I don’t think the crew that moved the engines had a very good idea of what they were doing. I was surprised they didn’t crash and burn crossing the tracks more than they did. they were very lucky in my opinion. The guy who did the station had everything thought out and every contingency covered but I agree they both needed to use some radios instead of yelling over heavy machinery all the time.

I wouldn’t hire either of those crews. It your moving something as heavy as Big Boy why would you use railroad ties and 1" thick plywood as a ramp?! And as for the guys who moved the railroad station don’t you think that you should make sure all the crews that you are depending on for the move are in place before you start the move? I guess we should be happy that they had the rail road on board and didn’t send a train through either of them like the guys house they talked about.

I think the problems on both sides can be chalked up to a lack of experience - how often do those guys get to move stuff that big and heavy anyway?
