Just to let you guys know, Erik will show his final OS with Kalmbach on May 4th.
Seems he has found a little different setting with a slightly larger audience.
For those of you unlucky enough to not know Erik personally, this is a big loss to the Trains.com forum, and in my opinion, Kalmbach publishing too.
But it lets him manage a larger on line community, and offers other opportunities to expand his professional career and knowledge, so I for one want to wish him all the best in his new endeavor.
Hope you get green boards all the way Erik, your influence and humor will be sorely missed here.
Erik, I wish you much luck in your new endeavor. You will be very much missed around here. But, I hope you will be able to drop in ocassionally to say “Hi” to all of us.
I hope that you have great success in your new endeavor, wherever that may be. Your work here and at the magazines was pretty dang good IMO. I hope that you do come back and pop in to say hi from time to time.
Oh sure- He probably got a gig at the Playboy Mansion, managing thier online community ([;)][;)])
Good luck Erik. It must be a good move- why else would you leave all the fun and excitement provided by this forum? In the future, I bet Bergie the poster will have more fun here than Bergie the moderator does now.
I’ve always been amazed at the tact you’ve been able to muster while dealing with a zoo like this place can be! It will certainly serve you well wherever you’re headed.
Your photgraphy, your humor and your presence will certainly be missed. I wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavours. As others have mentioned, please stop in to say “Hi!” from time to time!
Bergie, Thanks for being here to help keep the group on “track”. (he he) I hope to see you here more often and to see those great photographs you will take of the trains where you are going. Thanks again bud, sorry to see you go.
Add me to this list of those who will be sad to see Bergie go. I certainly wouldn’t have wanted to deal with some of the stuff that you have on the forums. It’ll also be sad to see your departure from Trackside, as you always had some interesting photos and stories to share.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind words. Yes, I will continue to visit (I’ve been with Trains.com since day one, so it’s like an itch I can’t scratch).
Long story short, I’m staying in the Milwaukee area and becoming the Community Manager for Reader’s Digest Association’s TasteOfHome.com (the site for Taste of Home magazine). Basically, they have a reader forum very similar to this one and I’ll be managing the day to day operations. Bottom line, if you need a recipe for something, visit that site! [C=:-)]
The decision to leave was an agonizing one for me. Not only have a made a lot of dear friends here at Kalmbach, I’ve also made many friends as a result of this reader forum. As for Trackside, it’s still in good hands with the 9 other photographers (see the Trackside with Trains.com section over on TrainsMag.com). I may contribute to that from time to time in the future.
I appreciate all of your contributions to our forum and look forward to continuing the discussions with you in the future.
