Finally a decent looking twin sealed beam headlight!

I finally figured out how to get the twin sealed beam headlight look as it appeared on B&O locomotives in the 50’s. Two Grain of sand bulbs side by side did the trick. Now I have to attempt a vertical style for my sons C&O locos.

Stan.

Those look great. What voltage are they rated for?

Pete

Pete,

They’re 14v with the resistor attached.

Thanks Stan.

Do you happen to have a source for them? I need some for markers and other lights.

Pete

I discovered these in 1983 when they were first made by PFM. Even at $3.00 per bulb back then I started using them for everything lighting. They worked great inside of Utah Pacific marker lamps. I drilled holes in the back of the traditional reflective headlamps. I lighted number board and marker boards that was unheard of before them.

Now several companies make them with either insulated or non-insulated leads. I highly recommend the insulated ones. Here is a link to some made by Miniatronics -

Thanks fellas for posting the links! I’ve bought them from Walthers as well, and quite a few on Ebay.I saved a few of the red ones offered by Walthers to use as Pennsy markers. They had yellow markers with only one red lens on the rear. I’ve seen them on their cabooses and my friend has a pair of the real ones.
