Finally an accurate steam-era Norfolk and Western caboose is going to be produced in HO plastic. Spring Mill Depot is producing not one, but 6 different types of N&W cabooses. Many of which are steam-era like the CF and CG. With so many modelers owning Y6b’s (Rivarossi and Broadway Limited), Y3’s (Life-Like), Class A’s (Broadway Limited) and the J which did pull some freight (Broadway Limited, Bachmann, and MTH), it is about time we have a caboose to put at the end. I have their wagontop caboose and wagontop hopper and they are very well done. My guess is that I will order six. http://www.springmillsdepot.com/nwmain.htm
At first, I thought this announcement had nothing to do with me. I don’t model the N&W–mostly Northwestern railroads with some sentimental favorites elsewhere.
Ah, but then I see the Virginian. I DO have a couple of Bachmann Virginian rectifier electrics. Pretty much my ONLY electrics.
I know Bill Carl runs are a small, custom operation, and I’m more than happy to support them so I’m being patient but I’m not getting any younger, either!
Their I-12s are superb models and I’m sure glad I got those when I did.
I am more interested in the Wabash Cabooses as they purchased some of them from a used equipment supplier. Many of them had their cupolas removed and were in transfer service on the Wabash. One of the numbers they are offering used to run behind my house in Toledo shuttling the Anderson’s hopper cars filled with grain from Maumee to the Toledo docks, I will be getting that car plus a couple of the steel C-30’s.
