finally finished a couple more SP locomotive projects

i actually got a couple of things done this weekend.[:D]

the first is an old Alco models brass SD45T-2. i stripped off the old paint, added a new nose light, removed the screen grills and added S&S grills, added new fans, added a post to make a modified L window, and moved the horn. then i painted it up in the speed lettering scheme. it still needs some glass for the windows, and most importantly, it needs a new motor. it has a mashima can motor, but it has no flywheels. so i have to find a motor that will fit and shove it in there.

here is what i ended up with:

the next project was quite a bit harder. this is a Kato SD45. i added the Sunrise Enterprises front and rear light packages, and added a plow. then i painted it up in the SP kodachrome paint scheme. this is the first time i have tried a paint job other than just a 2 ton dip. it turned out pretty well for my first try. after i apinted it i added a beacon to the roof and weathered it with chalks and it was done.

soooo, tell me what you think of my new SD45R…

Finishing something is good, even if it’s a phase of some project. Sometimes some of us may wonder if that can be done!

As far as I can tell, what you ended up with looks pretty good, BTW. Dan

Nice! But shouldn’t those Espee units be a bit more grimey? [:D]

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Aggro.

They just got back from Singles Weekend in Tiajuana, Don’t want them to pull a muscle first day back on the Job do you?

James

Looks great - got to love those tunnel motors!

Did a nice job. I hope you find a motor so you can get it running.

ALine has a Mashima can motor with flywheels that should work.
Nice looking models, however, I think the Shouldn’t Paint So Fast was a lousy scheme. Ch
