FINALLY...Goin to Boston

Most of you who chat with me(if you dont…you should start) have figured out that i really like the Acela Express. One Problem…I live about 2000 miles away from the nearest one in Colorado. But this week(saturday 4/2) im going to Boston. And of course South Station and Im gonna see the Acela Express. Its sad to say I am going to a funeral for my great aunt, so there are mixed feelings about the trip as a whole. but hopefully this’ll keep my mind off it.

Well hope you enjoy it. I go from the lower SE to the midwest & Pacific ocean on rail fan forays every year [:p]

what are you gonna be doing there? I know there are no crossings on Academy…hmmm, not too good with streets

Then again, there is what’s left of a CRIP bridge at Constitution & Academy that killed that line still in place. (A city blunder is what caused its demise, a rather spectacular failure)

A look will be good, but try to get in a short ride-say Boston to the next stop south or something. A bit pricey, but neat. check amtrak.com for schedules and dollars.

Sorry it has to be for a funeral, FT. Do try to get a ride on the Acela – say to Providence or New Haven. You might also take a look, if you have time, at the Downeaster out of North Station (some nice scenery). And don’t be afraid of the underground and subway system – it’s really pretty simple! The Green Line/Riverside runs above ground on the old turn around loop for South Station (Boston and Albany)

Don’t miss the Mattapan - Ashmont “high Speed” line that connects with the Ashmont branch of the “Red” rapid transit line. Restored 50=year old PCC cars on an ex-railroad right of way for fast running. Nocew scenery too. Good photo opportunities.
