Finally got a decision

My wife and her sister wanted a train to go thru the Christmas village. For about 8 years now I’ve been trying to convince my lovely wife that On30 would be the way to go, but to no avail. We had a couple of different HO holiday trains that got set up but I kept working on them. This past year they got the great idea that I could decorate train cars for each of the dogs (no kids so world revolves around pooches). So again, I stated that On30 would give me a larger “canvas” in which to work.

Finally, I got the go ahead so I’ve been on the e-thingy getting an engine and a unique car for each dog and human in the house. Found a pretty good deal on a 2-6-0 and the wife approves of the colors even though the lettering will be stripped.

Now I just have to build a layout, errr, Christmas village display that I can put up, take down, and store easily…

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step…

Now the step is to have the village include a station, a siding, a water tank, ball signals (it IS Christmas, after all.)

Then a spur so you can spot freight cars at Santa’s Workshop, or the candy cane factory…

Finally, about a week after New Year’s Day, make the snow and Christmas lights disappear, to be replaced by a second train…

Suddenly you have an all-season model railroad

When your wife asks what happened, ask her if she’s ever heard the tale of the Arab, the tent and the camel. (The camel ended up with the whole tent.)

Good luck!

Nice sentiment but it ain’t gonna happen! I have a layout room and trains other than Christmas are relegated to there.

Its Department 56, and I know they have a station, just not sure if she owns it…yet:)
