Finally got my DCC system

Went to the LHS yesterday and finally picked up my DCC system. It’s just a Bachmann EZ command system, but for a small layout, it’s just the ticket. I have my sound system connected to it and programmed on the same button the locomotive is assigned to. It’s more than I’d hoped for. Someday, I’ll get something better, for now, this will work.

Nothing wrong with the Bachmann stuff. It might not have all the bells and whistles, but it IS DCC, and will certainly get you started. Congrats, Jeffery.

You took the route I should have taken. Instead, I bought an MRC PA that didn’t do DC (didn’t know it until after reading the OWNER"S MANUAL), and then had to purchase a bunch of decoders to go with it.

I should have concentrated on building my layout and getting it all prettied up, instead of trying to get locomotives to light up, sound, and run like real ones. Heck my layout is only a 4X8, so where you can’t get them with size, you have to kill them with lights and sound.

See, one can still have fun by keeping things simple.[:)]

Good for you, Jeff! [:)][tup] I went with the E-Z Command for a year and have NO regrets. Yea, it’s limited but it’s pretty straightforward to use and ideal for a small layout. And the Bachmann can also control up to 8 sound functions.

Even though it doesn’t come with an LCD display, switching from one locomotive to another is, in some instances, easier than my Power Cab. I’m happy for you. [^]

Way to go, Jeffrey! You took the plunge, and that is the main thing. I hope you get a lot of running pleasure out of that system. You can always do what 90% of us do; change/upgrade as the need or desire arises. For now, enjoy.

Jeff:

Congrats!! Nice to see you got one of our hobby’s ultimate toys; yes you do deserve it, with all the helpful info. you’ve given to us on this forum–hope to join you there eventually, that is if I ever get my benchwork started and track/layout completed some day!

Congrats Jeffrey, making the DCC plunge recently myself I can say that it will probably be one of the best purchases you make. I too have a small layout and went with an MRC Prodigy Express mainly for the handheld throttle. I do envy you in that your Bachman system can run DC locos, the MRC’s cannot. Because of that I hooked my DCC system up to CAB B on my layout and kept my MRC Tech2 2400 on CAB A for when ever I decide to pull out one of my non decoder equiped locos.

You got DCC now, eh?

Whaaa Hah Haaa!!! Welcome to the Dark Side!

OK, OK , its not the dark side, but it is a whole new level of enjoyment. Good luck, and enjoy.
