After being kicked out of the basement to help my brother in law with living arrangements [angel]i have accepted the fact im not getting it back anytime soon so i have relocated to the front porch.
After much adoooo, not being able to decide on what to do[%-)], i settled on a small yard just to get things going. This weekend i decided to get things going after a year of stalling, building this ripping it down, building that and ripping that down,[banghead]
Had to change my frame of mind of trying to building something that would fill about 700 sqaure ft into about 100[sigh].The room i have now is about 7ft across and 16 long. What finally put things into perspective was the recent MR magazine articule on small layouts. The arcitect had about the same space and he had ALOT crammed into his layout WOW is all i could think.
I have an engine yard and a sorting yard now i have to decide what industries im going start.here are some early pictures with many more to come i hope,
I cannot decide what i want to put along the backdrop, buildings, rock face or a picture, maybe i can get some ideas from your perspectives[dinner]
this one is a mess sorry [:I]
Got some scenicing done last night what a difference
here is my crowded yard (crowded for the wrong reasons
[#oops] just checked out you pictures and boy do i feel like a whiner!!
Nice job though with what you have. The Dcc system you are using do you like it? my friend has the super cheif and i find it overwhelming I don’t think i need all the extra stuff.
I have the Digitrax Zephyr. It is a great beginner system. I have a UT4 handheld throttle so I can operate two locomotives without having to change addresses. It is easy to use and you don’t have to read the entire manual to learn how to use it.
Overall, I recommend the Zephyr, but get an additional throttle so you can walk around some.
The hardest part is getting started, and then to keep going. I have a foot and half by three feet and a half and It’s been a year and I am only about half finished.
I have a big room, but I can’t use it all due to the fact that is my playroom. I have a 4x8 layout, and I am currently figuring out why my engines stall on just this one turnout. I can’t do scenery quite yet, because I need some 3" risers, trees, some 1/4 foam, my backdrop, and better trackwork, which I am not glueing down at this point.
