Finally!

It’s been some time, but I finally got my GS-4 Daylight! Part of the problem was figuring out how to use it prototypically, since it would most likely be the only steam on my layout. I went with the excursion paint colors  It hasn’t came yet, but I can’t wait.

Also, I DO want a cab forward, but should I buy one like: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=260072268612&rd=1&rd=1

Or get one of the old AHM ones, and add in a decoder myself. I’m fairly well taught in electronics, that aspect is alright, I just need more opinions before I chose one.

Good for you. But you may want to watch out for the AHM cabforwards. IMHO Aren’t worth the plastic they are built from. You can get an Intermountain AC-12 with no sound for $250 including shipping.

AHM was the old distributor for Rivarossi so if it is an AHM, it is going to be at least 25 years old. That means it will have pizza cutter flanges which aren’t compatable with code 83 track. You also would have to be concerned with the draw current which could possibly fry some decoders. These weren’t issues in the pre-DCC days when code 100 track was standard but it is something you have to be concerned with.
