Okay so I got one complete section done after my third repaint. I like it and my left arm is exhausted. Three more sections to go.

Very nice, very nice indeed!
You can see a lot of work went in to it. It does remind me of the old cowboy movies my Dad & I watched.
You are off to a good start. Keep it up.
Here is my finished paint job of the Castle rock @ Green River, WY

Real deal below

compared to the real photo there are 2 things i notice , consider this constructive critisism from someone who can’t paint half as well as you do [:)]
the colored streaks flow downhill on the backdrop , they don’t seem to do that in the photo , they have more of a stippled effect
there’s more detail in the upper part in the photo than in the backdrops . there’s a layering sort of thing going on . (yeah it’s been a really long time since i studied geology in high school!)
without the real photo i’d have said they look great , alongside the photo they drop down to really nice . they’ll probably work very well as backdrops and i’m sure anyone who knows the area you’re modeling will recognize it right away , which i think is the effect we’re going for .
Looks real nice and impressive. Thanks for sharing I enjoyed it.
Happy New Year!!
Very nice indeed
As good as it is, the vertical lines are distracting, the prototype is horizontal as ereimer suggests. Also you have used too many brush strokes, its too neat. More stippled effect would make it even better.
Well basically here is the skinny folks
I like it and none of you sent me any money to hire a professional painter.
I appreciate your comments but I am pleased with the results.
grin
Good for you. My backdrop consists of blue walls with some clowds. Living in Utah I am familiar with the topography. You can do mine anytime.
