I recently completed a Rix Overpass to hide the dead end of my yard:

I have two ideas for finishing the back wall along the rest of the yard. I photoshopped up two quick sketches. I’m leaning toward the factory buildings.

since you have that overpass, id suggest going with an industrial scene… it would make more sense visually… the real question is what is the adjacent scene on the layout? would it make sense to have an industrial backing? or is the rest of the layout all mountains?
The yard lead sweeps around past a few more industrial buildings - probably a stone and concrete dealer, and plastics molding plant - not constructed yet, but I do have some mock-ups as place holders. It joins the main line near a steel mill - already built and in place.

I agree on going with the industrial scene. I think it fits with the overpass more naturally. The overpass is very nice, by the way. You do need to do something with that non-scale light switch, though [:)] May I suggest you mount a building façade on a pair of vertical rails over the switch, which will allow you to slide the building upward to hid the switch (just a dumb thought).

You could use a mirror under the bridge against the wall at the left. I’d put foliage behind the bridge pillars to limit the scope of the mirror reflection.
Mr. B. thanks for the idea. I like it a lot.

I agree, an industrial setting would be most appropriate.
As to the light switch, paint the switch cover to look like a building. Set in between other buildings, you’d have to be looking hard to find the switch!
Darrell, quiet…for now
That was going to be my suggestion.
There are a lot of good backdrops for purchase that would go there well. Check out your Walther’s then go on line to get a better idea what they look like.
I am in complete agreement with the mirror below the bridge idea and the industrial backdrop/background idea.
Funny thing, because I have an exact similar situation with my staging yard, and that has been the exact plan of action that I am going to take with scenery. Mirror under an automotive bridge along the short side wall and backdrop of industry or warehouse buildings along the long backdrop section.

Thanks for all the input. I like the idea about the mirror, and also painting the switchplate.
