UP Rocks

Did anyone get a picture from the golden spike tower?

Isn’t this the second significant fire in the past three months?

Any damage (other than the tank) or injuries?

It sounds like UP ought to consider having their own fire station. An hour for the fire crews to show up? I guess UP should just be thankful that the fire didn’t spread.

Sager: it’s not an hour for fire crews to show up. That’s the official time that the fire was reported and then reported under control. Fire responded much earlier than that.

Mr. Sager from Illinois read the story agian the fire was OUT in about an hour. That was not the FD response time.

@David Sager: You’re right, I make my living in a paper mill, and there we have an Emergency Response Team of hourly employees that respond when the siren sounds. We are trained for fire, HAZMAT, rescue, etc. and they could use the same program!

David, I think you may have misunderstood. The article says that there was a little over an hour between the explosion and fire being reported, and then the fire being put out. I’m sure the fire department was there very quickly, in order to be able to quench the fire in an hour.
