Fire in the hole!

BOOM!

My friends old locomotive, by all practical means of the word, blew up. It looked like an old HO 2-6-2? Anyway what would cause this? An electrical short?

JC,

There are so many variables it would be hard to say what caused it. But you are right that it most likely shorted out.

If I were the on-scene investigating officer the first question I would ask is “Are there any “little people” on the layout that look like they could be terrorist?” [:D]

HEADLINE: Police in HOville this morning are investigating the mysterious explosion of a steam locomotive. Witnesses say they saw a scruffty, dirty and scraggly bearded man running from the locomotive just minutes before the explosion. Police are working on the theory of a disgrunted hobo, that was thrown off a train only a few days ago, may be involved and want him for questioning. Found among the wreckage were remnants of a fire cracker, indicating a crude home made pipe bomb, and have been sent to the FBI lab for analysist. So far, no reports of deaths, or injuries has been reported. This report brought to you by Dan Ruthers, HOville Dailey Planet. [(-D][(-D][(-D]

HA HA HA. [(-D] [(-D] [(-D] [(-D] [(-D] [(-D] [(-D] [(-D] [(-D]

Cute Eriediamond, made me laugh, but you sure it wasn’t a disgruntled brakeman that fell off the rear of the train because he was sitting on the brakewheel when the train lurched to a start?

Jay

It is confirmed that the suspect was the hobo. He has been moved to a correctional facility.

We have recived word the report is in from the lab. Nitroglycerin is the key ingredient, along with a fuse. We have also recived word that this was belived to be dropped in the boiler of the locomotive in a semi plastic shell, so it would slowly melt, and then the dynamite would go off.

Back to serious, what do you mean by blow up? did it melt the outside shell or something?

Noah

LOL

I think when it shorted the inside of the shell melted slightly. Thats all I could see.

I told you guys not to use 91% alcohol instead of the normal oil for the smoke generator…I told you so…[:)]

Today several persons along with a tank were seen in a froest near the site of the recent train bombing. the aleged hobo was reported to be with them. a bomb lab was also foun nearby. this Alex with the Model Railroad Times [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Is the unit salvageable?

If not, and you have an engine terminal on on your layout. Park it on a “Rip Track” or yard siding, as prototypes would do with engines that an appointment with the “Blow Torch”.

The court with the grand jury on the guiltiness of the hobo will begin on the last weekend of June at Galesburg Railroad Days, which mysteriously isn’t being sponsored by BNSF this year. Even stranger is the fact that the explosion happened near Dotsero, Colorado on the D&RGW, now being nicknamed the “Dangerous & Rapidly Growing Worse” by the local railfans. The locomotive was supposedly a Bachmann (Botchmann) Consolidation on a test run. The railroad is now going to purchase Genesis Challengers, which will actually be in the right roadname now.

LOL

After a some new evideince was introduced, it was determined the Hobo was in fact innocent, seems he was sabatoging UP equipment at the time of the incident. attention now focus’s on some kid’s and their goofy dog.
