Nothing but problems since Firecrown took over. Everytime I try and login to Trains.com, I see the warning message about redoing my password. So I have, twice, and I still get the same warning message over and over. Now I see in my account that I subscribed to Unlimited Access on October 15, 2025 and it expired on December 24, 2025! 2 months later?? what the heck? Am I the only one having these problems?
No, you are not the only one! It took me about a week and several emails to Firecrown to finally get my password reset. The instructions are not clear. I worked for quite awhile in IT and I know that sometimes the IT folks don’t always communicate that well with users, including the Firecrown customer service reps.
You are definitely not alone.
It was only after a lack of print issues that I found I could not access my content on trains.com / MRR section (never had any real need to use it). Customer service have tried to help by sending several temporary passwords with reset/change password links but these don’t appear to do anything when completed and I still can’t get access.
Even though I can’t access the MRR section I do have a Firecrown account information page, which shows that not only have I somehow signed up for an unwanted digital subscription but have also managed to renewed for a for 2 more years.
I also don’t receive any of the system generated emails and wonder if there is some domain block on an email host or maybe a fault within the Firecrown system.
You are not alone. Last year my subscription expired, but I never received a renewal notice. So I re-subscribed and signed up for auto-renewal. That subscription expired with the January 2026 issue. I received a postcard in the fall stating the subscription would auto-renew, or if there was any problem with my payment info I would receive a paper renewal form. Neither of those things happened and the subscription has expired. Although I am only successful logging in about 20% of the time without getting a “We can’t identify your account” message (Even though I reset my password, etc.) and updated my payment info as directed, the process still didn’t work.
I’m done with Kalmbach/Firecrown video services. A few years ago I was enrolled in MR Video Plus. My subscription was terminated before the expiration date that I signed up for and paid for. I had to pay again to continue. Now, without any notification, my trains.com/video access is unavailable. Maybe that subscription is legitimately up but I received no notification of such. So I’m done. There is more content on YouTube than I can keep up with. Firecrown, you had a customer and now you’ve lost him.
Regards, Chris
Yeah, about a year ago my Trains.com subscription stopped auto-billing me each month and access just stopped. I don’t miss it and have no desire to try to renew it. Even the cheap tee shirt I got as an early subscriber didn’t last.
I’ve tried multiple times to begin an “Unlimited” subscription, but every time that I submit the order I get an error message telling me to choose one of the options on the left side of the page. There is nothing there to actually select, only a free cap with my paid yearly subscription. Seems to be no way out of the cycle.
My guess is that Firecrown, like many companies, have outsourced their WEB based services. This creates a major disconnect. I wonder if the scenarios created by the WEB people have all really been tested?
I just tried canceling my subscription. We’ll see how it goes.
[rant on] For the 2nd time in 6 months I failed to receive my print subscription to Trains. Last time was the November 2025 issue. I reported it missing on 11/12/25 and finally received the replacement, sent 4th class, on 12/4/25. I reported the February issue missing this morning. Many of my friends locally got theirs in the mail on 1/3 and 1/5. If true to form I might see this issue by groundhog day. And yes I know I can read it on line, and I probably will, but I PAID for the darn thing in print after all, and the least they can do is police their print house with better quality control.[rant off]
