First attempt at detailing and sound installation

Hie thee over to http://www.geocities.com/bpickeri/C30-7.htm for a gander at my first attempt at super-detailing and sound installation- an Atlas C30-7. I’m relatively satisfied with it.

Things I want to do better next time- not sure. As mentioned in the page, there are a few details I wasn’t able to identify. My next contemplated project (two C-Liners to Canadian Pacific) will be full re-paints, so I’ll need to continue to work on my airbrush skills. Finally, as mentioned, it will need to be weathered.

Given that I’ve been working on this (and not much else, hobby-wise) since January, I suspect the biggest thing I need to change is the time I have to spend on this work! [:D] Blame job, four-year-old, and the ongoing porch rebuild project.

Any other comments, constructive criticism, etc., please feel free!

Brian,

Nice job on the installation/detailing. Did the radiator grille insert come with a super-detailing kit, or was that your own invention?

Tom

Thanks.

That was my own invention. See the parts list at the end of the page for the material used- as described, I was going to drill out the holes (similar to a project I saw on the web), and was about 1/4 of the way through when I decided I was dissatisfied with the general appearance. A quick question at my LHS (this is why you support your LHS! [:)]) led me to the etched brass material. I’m FAR happier with this.

Brian;
Excellent job! Post some pics after grunging it up.

Sure!

At the rate I’m going, and given that I want to practice a little on something in which I have less time invested, I’ll be posting that sometime around, oh, Thanksgiving, maybe Christmas. [;)]

Seriously, I plan on grunging up a few shake-the-boxes and old Tyco cars before I do anything to this one! I also should work on the scenery on the “layout” (just a little 4x5) so it is something more than bare foam.

Too little time for “life”, too much “work”. If I could just get by without a job… [:p]

Fantastic! Awsome! I’ve got to attempt something like that someday, but I haven’t got the engine or money right now[V]. Someday… [8D][tup]
