Rattle can for me using Krylon Camo Brown Ultra Flat and wiping every four feet or so and windows open for four hours and done. Nice fast drying too. Also taped over the points and hindges. Cheap, simple and done. Other tie weathering finished later on as needed. Doug
I settled on the paint from MicroMark so all I need to do now is wait–projected delivery is next Friday. This hobby is teaching me patience (and to enjoy the journey.)
I started out using a rattle can of Rustoleum Camo brown for the ties and track (except for the critical areas of turnouts). Rather than masking adjacent scenery, I painted a piece of paper, took it to the local hardware store and they matched the color for less than $10 a quart. Now I use a 1/2 inch brush to paint the rail and ties with less mess and smell.

I will be interested in your opinion of the MicroLux paints. I’m starting to run low on Pollyscale paint and was thinking of giving the MicroLux a try.

I will let you know how it turns out, though being a new to air brushing, I will have nothing to compare it to.
Never thought about spay painting the track. I used the same acrylic paint as Lion and wiped the tops of the rail after working maybe 3 feet. Took an evening as I recall.
