First ebay purchase

A Norfolk Southern sd-7 I’m very excited and just wanted to share[:D][^]

Congratulations! That wasn’t so bad to do, was it?

sounds like a good engine

Glad to see someone happy about there latest purchase on Ebay. I got a real good deal last nite on Ebay, its my 200th purchase though. Happy Bidding!

[:I]I feel like a dork cause I’d never done it before[:D] But I can’t wait till it gets here!!!

Don’t feel like a dork because it’s your first time, if you got what you wanted at a price you can live with it’s a good deal. Just be careful not to get hooked on ebaying it, it can get expensive. My locomotive fleet/collection went exponential after my first ebay buy.

My first eBay purchase? A new-in-the-box (NIB) MDC Tech2 power pack. Berk, I know your pain, brotha, but I have a wife with a tight eBay leash. I know better than to unlea***HAT fury…[B)]

[#ditto]

Don’t get caught up in a bidding war either… Set your top price, when you think the time is right, place your bid and don’t go a penny further… I usually bid in the last seconds so this method works well for me… If I get it great. If not, there’ll be another.

Good luck,
Jeff

The problem (if you can call it that…) with ebay is that it’s like a 24hr train show with an almost unlimited number of sales stands - any moths in your wallet are no longer safe!

My last Ebay purchase was a P2K NYC GP7. It runs great

I’ve purchased four locomotives and some non-model RR items through eBay. It’s never been a problem as long as I keep my head and stick to my own self-imposed price limits. Check feedback carefully and know the products. Avoid bidding wars (someone else will be selling the same item again soon). Don’t get irrational and it can be a lot of fun!

Ditto on the tight leash! I never knew her face could get like that when she saw the bill…

So, yes, do not get caught in a bidding war, and watch out for excessive shipping charges. I get really upset when I see the shipping was $3.85 and I got charged $9.99.

You can get some great deals though, just gotta be careful.

What brabd GP-7 did you get? My first EBay locomotive was an Athearn PC U30C with the metal sideframes. That was four years ago, and it is still running strong.

My first purchase on eBay was about less than 6 years ago. It was for an set of old trains. I have purchased 209+ items (some sellers didn’t bother to leave me feedback). I now regret buying all those old trains… I can have 2 or 3 nice detailed locomotives.

eBay can be addicting, practically anything can be bought of eBay.
