First, my apologizes for writing this post about First Hobby in Decatur, Illinois. I just found them while doing a search for a particular structure - they have the best price - and I went looking for information by searching previous posts. So, I entered their name and came up with 23,000 references using those words. So, I tried several times to limit the search to specific words and either came up with zero responses or things that were totally irrelevant to what I was looking for. Yes, this is probably a bit of rant but I know how many times we say to people who post things that have been here a bazillion times to seek out previous posts.
Ok - now I feel better - but if anyone knows about this place and their reputation I would appreciate it.
I have patronized them several times over the years and they have always been first rate on customer service, honesty, and reliability.
They even offered to refund some of the repair fees that Atlas charged for a defective locomotive that Atlas would not fess up to and admit that the fault was theirs.
As far as the search engine problem, there are a couple of other companies with similar sounding names, so the search engine or the phrase that you’re searching on is the problem. It would probably help if you added “Decatur, IL” to the search; e.g., First Hobby Decatur. IL or get a subscription to Model Railroader and use their web address from the printed advertisements.
They are one of my favorite sites for purchasing various plastic models and they ship as directed without any problems. I have noticed their prices are not as low as some other discounters, but I tend to purchase form reliable sources that I trust.
