First PS-2.0 Engine Question

I recently purchased my first PS-2.0 set,UP 30-2376-1 Aerotrain and have a question about the battery replacement. It is NIB,never run from 2003 and I am thinking of ordering a new battery and possibly charger so it will be here when the train set arrives, but I don’t know which battery or charger it uses, or will the battery it comes with be ok ? Thanks in advance Mark

Before you do anything , place it on track turn power on and let it charge. It could be fine after that.

I wouldn’t worry to much about a new battery but if you want to order the charger I would check the MTH site and look up the set that you ordered to see if the proper charger is listed in the set’s operator’s manual.

I did exactly the same thing. I bought a 2001 Rail King Big Boy, NIB. It ran fine, but didn’t take long and the system wouldn’t find it routinely. I would have to readd it. So got a new battery for about $10, from LHS, and also a MTH charger. Of course the new battery needed charging, and I do not like to leave layout power on for an extended period of time to charge up the battery. Of course got it charge using the MTH charger, which will accomodate both battery types and havn’t had any problems. Would I do it again? Yes. No regrets.

As doug points out go to MTH website for battery type.
