According to Charlei Hunter, New England Central gen. manager, welded rail was unloaded today Friday Oct. 29 south of St. Albans, Vt as the first increment with work continuing south as weather permits. He did not say whether tie and ballast work had already been done or was not required.
This is part of a $160 million project that will see the line between St Albans, Vt and New Haven, Conn. brought up to a state of good repai. It will also include restoration of the direct route between Brattleboro, Vt and Springfield, Mass and replace double track south of Sprienfield. Running times should be shorter by some one to hopefully two hours.
