First run on new layout

Hi all,

After turfing my N scale layout in April, I finally have a working layout. I’ve filmed the first run on the layout:

There’s still a bit to do - I need to finish building the rolling stock and get the locomotives up and running. I’m just glad to be running trains again [:D].

Cheers,

Looks pretty good Danny, N scale. Looks bigger in the video. I like the elevation changes. Point to point and is it lumber or mine layout?

Yes, you still have A BIT to do, but you havetrains RUNNING and apparently quite well. That very important part is now mostly behind you. Looking good.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Have fun,

It runs nicely. Good work!

Ken,

I should have been a bit clearer. This new layout is in HOn3 - the locomotive is a Blackstone K-27 from the latest production run. It will be a mining layout - the twin siding at the top will be under a coal tipple.

The concept is that this is the end of the ‘Bradford Branch’ - a D&RGW branchline serving the A. N. Bradford coal mine and the town of Bradford. At the moment, only the mine is modelled. The portion of the mine that will be on my layout will be the base camp and tipple #1, which is the main railroad loading site. Coal from tipples #2-4 is brought in and loaded by dump truck over a private system of roads.

Cheers,

Yes, this is what I call the ‘blank canvas’ stage [:D]. I’ve already got some ideas as to what the scenery will look like. I’ll be concentrating on the structures first. The reefer car body sitting in the background will be turned into a storage shed for mining explosives. I will be posting updates - stay tuned [:)]
