I was railfanning this afternoon and saw the NS 35A with an ex-Conrail C40-8W in front and an ex-LMS (joint Conrail/GE leasor) C40-8W in second, it was a nice break from NS black!
Its been a while for me, too. Last time I went to Selkirk a few months ago I saw a quartet of Conrail SD40-2’s. Unfortunately, the lashup was at the other end of the yard and I was unable to run across the bridge in time to photo them.
Who would have thought 5 yrs ago when we where adrift in a sea of Conrail Blue that a solid lash up of Conrail blue would be unusal?
I haven’t seen a solid lashup in a long time. It just shows how much the rail industry is changing.
We went though this effect back when the DL&W and Erie merged. It became rare to see a solid lashup of DL&W or Erie.
Conrail…What’s Conrail[:D]?
I like the high-demand for locomotives on the road right now. Everyone is still able to see thier favorites in thier original colors. Conrail, IC, SOO, CNW, SP, WC, they are still around and when they are together, it makes for a great sight.
