Hello all, I’m Brock and this is my first posting just wanted to say a few things. First off wanted to thank MR for starting such a great sight where we can all share in the hobby we all love. Second I hope that we all continue to get along as well as I’ve seen over this past week of just looking around these forums.
Now a little about me I’ve been interested in model Railroading since that first time my father took out his SMALL train set and we played with it all night. I have not yet begun my own layout mainly becuse I’ve been stationed overseas for the past three years. But with just surfing this forum for a week I have learned so much and hope to be starting my own as soon as I get back to the states.
Well thats enough I’ll leave you all with this keep up the great work, this is definetly the best hobby you can get into. [:D]
Hi Brock. Glad you’re on the forum! Hope you get home soon and get started on a railroad of your own. Since you said you’re stationed overseas, I’m assuming you’re US military. If so, I’d like to say THANKS!!!
Welcome to the forum and thank you so much for protecting the greatest country in the world. When you do start your layout keep in mind that if you have any question, no matter how stupid it may seem, all of us here on the forum would be glad to help you.
The type and area would be mostly freight in the Northeast with CSX and Conrail. And I will be modeling in N scale I like the way the scenery pops out at you. Once again thanks for the support it means alot to us. [:D]

Sorry Got carried away when I saw you were from Watertown. Welcome aboard. You came to the right place for motivation and information. Are you over in the “Sand Box?”. Regardless stay safe. Hope to hear from you. Haven’t been to Watertown in many, many years.

What are you planning in regard to layout size? It strikes me that, in N scale, you could do an “L” shaped layout 4’ wide with a scenic divider (mountains?) down the center that would have 4 distinct scenes if walked around. Maybe two industrial/mainline scenes and two towns. There are lots of possibilities. Let us know what you’re planning.
