Sold to who? The Mississippi especially needs to be preserved somewhere.
As a child I went to the Museum of Science and Industry quite often. A stop at the model railroad AND the locomotive cab were de rigeur ! I was pretty sure that it was the cab of a Pennsy loco but I didn’t know what type. I developed my childhood fantasy of being a locomotive engineer there in that cab and to someday be “at the reins” of a streamlined passenger express train. Fortunately for me, my childhood fantasy would eventually come to fruition in adulthood. I retired as a locomotive engineer off the BNSF and my streamlined passenger express trains were commuter trains. Maybe not as glamorous but the rails are the same distance apart, I am saddened that I wont be able to show my grandson that locomotive cab but it just wouldn’t have the relevance to him as it did to me.
The setting is gone but the memories remain.
