Fixed voltage wiring to a ZW or KW

I tried looking for past posts regrding how to do this. I’ve reviewed the 022 instruction sheet. I’m I correct with this interpretation?

For each switch in use run wire either from fixed voltage plug to plug or if using a wiring block from each plug to a screw on the block then from there to either the B or C post on the ZW or the B post on the KW. Then run a wire from the U post on either transformer to #2 on a lock on and then another wire from the A or D post on the ZW or the A post on the KW to #1 on the lock on.

It just doesn’t seem right!

I think you may need to flesh out your terminology more than ZW, etc. I have no idea what you are talking about, so it is possible others are merely shrugging and passing by…?

A ZW and KW aredifferent models of old Lionel transformers. I have an old KW. Your best bet is to try a Lionel repair book at your local library.

Okay, it falls into place…thanks for that.

May I suggest, then, that the originator take his question to the Classic Toy Trains forum? They operate the older and O gauge stuff, and would be in a better position to help than many who frequent this forum…that is to say, there are more of 'em over there. [:)]

Assuming that O27 turnouts had three lugs on them for wiring,

you will run a wire between the Fixed Voltage Terminal (B or C on the ZW; B on the KW) to terminal 1 on the turnout. Terminal 2 on the turnout gets wired to the U Terminal on either transformer. Terminal 3 on the turnout gets wired to the other Fixed Voltage Terminal (A or D on the ZW; A on the KW). This apparently doesn’t use any form of a switch or anything to flip the turnout.

I’ll have to do some google-ing to get a definitive answer for you though…

You’ll probably get better help in the Classic Toy Trains Forums, but as far as I remember, the original ZW transformer had 4 outputs, ALL variable. A and D were connected tot he big levers, with the reverse and whistle control, B and C were connected to the dials which could vary the output but had no reverse or whistle switches.

I took your suggestion and posted on the other forum only didn’t notice that you moved it for me 6 hours ago. Sorry for the duplication.
